Want a "wet spot" on a beautiful beach where you can also experience the ultimate setting for windsurfing and family? Chez Pat bar and restaurant on Galion Beach in St. Martin is the answer! Located on the eastern coast of St Martin, Galion Beach is exposed to the almost consant tradewinds. However, one of St. Martin's best reefs keeps the waters calm, making the bay a perfect place to not only learn windsurfing but for the kids to play as well.
Chez Pat was opened in 1990 by Pat Turner, a resident of St. Martin since 1977 and a local legend. Pat arrived on St. Martin at the age of 19, and was one of the Caribbean's top windsurfers. Now, he's one of the best instructors on the island. Pat also sails his 36 ft triamaran, "TRYST", and participates in races, including the "Caribbean Off Shore Race" which he and his brother started in 1985.
The family can play at the calmest beach on the island while you enjoy the adrenaline rush that windsurfing provides! After working up an appetite, take a seat at one of the shaded tables overlooking the island and order from a variety of foods including salads, sandwiches, burgers and grilled food. If you just want to relax, order an ice cold beer, frozen drink, or tropical rum drink and kick back on the beach and enjoy the fabulous views.
If you want to go at the best time for windsurfing, plan on going between June and July or in December through January. During the day, the winds are best before lunch and in the late afternoon.
